Elinor Coatings was founded in 2006 as a means of researching and developing metal corrosion solutions outside of a university setting. Using material research, evaluation, and testing in laboratory and real-world conditions, we sought to create environmentally friendly protective coatings for metal parts and products used throughout personal and commercial applications.

Founding Technical Expertise

Dante Battocchi, Head of Research and Consulting

Serving as the technical leader of the company, company founder Dr. Dante Battocchi leads Elinor’s research and consulting projects. He received his doctorate in Materials Engineering at the University of Trento, Italy, followed by an M.S. in Polymers and Coatings and a Ph.D. in Materials and Nanotechnology from North Dakota State University. His vast training and knowledge give him significant insights into the corrosion and coating needs of metal materials.

Why We Were Founded

Before our founding in 2006, there were no companies performing research and development in anti-corrosion in North Dakota. Upon recognizing this market niche, we felt that, while risky, it was vital for us to fill it.

Our most immediate concern was ridding the market of hexavalent chromium—a toxic heavy metal that is frequently used on metal objects to prevent corrosion and is now on the global list of carcinogens and pollutants. While legacy products that include the substance are effective, they pose a significant risk to humans and the environment. Leveraging the expertise of our founders and the knowledge gained from numerous research, development, and consulting projects, we aimed to replace these products with greener options that were safer and just as reliable.

Our Commitment to a Greener Future

As we continue on our path towards a greener future, we remain dedicated to finding non-toxic, non-carcinogenic coatings with which we can safely preserve metal. Each day, our research teams work tirelessly on corrosion issues so that we can offer the most up-to-date advice to our customers during consultations.
